Culinary Cinema menus represent a creative gastronomic interpretation meant to capture a prevailing emotion, environment, turn-of-phrase or overall feeling playing out on screen. As an example, the scene where leading man, 18-year-old Jamal Malik (superbly played by newcomer Dev Patel), appears working as a tea-boy in an Indian call centre, the country’s favorite beverage could be served with a bite sized samosa.

Slumdog Millionaire starts with Jamal answering questions on the Indian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,’ flashbacks show how he got there. After their mother dies Jamal and his brother, Salim, join a gang of young thieves to survive on the mean streets of Mumbai. Later they embark on a journey that finds them traveling on top of trains, selling goods, picking pockets, washing dishes, and pretending to be tour guides at the Taj Mahal as the film builds towards its dramatic finish.

Showtime at Culinary Cinema begins with the audience receiving trays at their allocated seat, with boxes that hold epicurean treats ranging from delicious canapé-sized appetizers to mini-cocktails packing a flavourful punch, lights dim as the film begins. While the intricate Slumdog Millionaire plot line thickens, food-matched moments will be signaled by light box, designating which numbered package should be opened and enjoyed.

If this makes you both curious and hungry then Kata Rocks Culinary Cinema is the place to be. Tickets are priced at only THB 1,000net per person, so book now on +66 (0)76 370 777 or dining@katarocks.com as seats are limited.
