Kata Rocks CSR Activities Support Phuket Communities

During 2017 Kata Rocks aims to increase its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and charity-based work around Phuket after a busy calendar of CSR activities and events during 2016. Kata Rocks organised its own charitable events and supported local charitable organisations that work directly to assist those in need. This will also remain the core focus for 2017.

“At Kata Rocks, we are continually seeking out innovative ways to support and give back to local communities on Phuket.”

“It’s a pledge that our resort colleagues value and seek to actively play a part in,” said General Manager Scot Toon. “It’s simply part of our ongoing commitment to be a good corporate citizen on the island and beyond.”

During 2016 Kata Rocks CSR outreach and charitable activities included a wide spectrum of events to involve as many communities as possible. Phuket’s community-based philanthropy usually evolves from local temples or mosques, non-government organisations (NGOs) or a direct activity by the resort.

Kata Rocks primary CSR activities during 2016 included:

January 2016

Cleaned Kata Temple (before Buddhist holiday)

February 2016

Kata Rocks served children a hot lunch, plus donated food and personal care items to Life Home Project Foundation (LHPF), a non-profit organization assisting HIV-infected/affected people and AIDS patients. Since 2002 LHPF has provided daycare, housing, medical assistance and educational scholarships to HIV-positive children and AIDS-affected children in Phuket.

March/April 2016

Donated personal care items (clothes etc.) to female prisoners at the Phuket Provincial Prison

Kata Rocks and the Phuket Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Centre launched a ‘Return Life to the Sea’ initiative, releasing 999 fish at Palai Restaurant.

During the inaugural and highly coveted Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous, Feadship Owner’s dinner one of Thailand’s most prominent artists, Mr Watcharin Rodnit of Negarta Asian Art Gallery, created an original work of art that attracted a final silent auction bid of THB 150,000. The proceeds of the auction were donated to the Phuket Youth Sailing Club (PYSC), an organisation that aims to promote and develop sailing for the next generation of sailors on the island.

2017

Kata Rocks support for Phuket communities during 2017 started early February with the annual staff cleaning of both Kata Temple and Sai Yuan Mosque.
